Lantern Transformation

I have been wanting a couple of large lanterns for a while, but seems like the really big ones are well over $100 each. Last weekend at Ross I found these UGLY Arabian style lanterns. I got both of them for $60. I hated the shiny silver tops but really liked the shape. So I figured for that price, I'd give them a coat of Spraypaint!

All I needed was a can of Spraypaint and Painters tape

Here they are in front of the fireplace....I love them, although now I think I should have used black instead of brown paint....what do you think?

  4. No, I love the brown!! That was really a great idea to repaint those. What a difference that made. You got a great deal on those for that price. They look nice by the fireplace.

  7. I love the lanterns in brown! I think they look great! Do you live in Washington state? The picture of your home in your header looks like it's in Wa. I grew up there and miss it so much.

  11. Popping in from Project Inspired, and I think the lanterns look fantastic. I've been able to collect several lanterns, but the largest ones I got from IKEA for under $20 each -- they are big enough to hold 3 or 4 chunky candles at the same time. I got mine before Christmas, so have no idea if they still have any. I think you are off to a great start in blogland. Just be prepared to meet some incredibly nice people! I'm a new follower!

  13. You did a great job making them more 'you' and I like how you taped off the glass. They look pretty by your fireplace and I think the brown works well with the other colours you have going on.
