A Little Bar In A Crate

Happy Presidents Day Loves!!! I hope you guys are enjoying the extra day off today!
I've spend all day in my PJ's yesterday, being lazy for a big part of the day !!!
On the "non-lazy" part of the day I re-arranged some stuff in the dining room.
I wanted to show you the little mini-bar I made out of an old crate.

As you guys know, I love to decorate with old crates, one can never have enough.
I just added some candles and straws along with the very few bottles of booze
I found in the pantry. I think it's just enough to qualify as a bar!!!

Our Dining Room is still not finished all the way!!!

It's been way too long, I painted the walls a different color last summer,
and it turns out I regret my choice of paint color. It's hard to tell in these
pictures, but there is too much creamy yellow going on and it's bugging me.

If I wasn't so lazy I would have re-painted it by now, but honestly
it was a Bear to paint this room with the 10 foot ceilings and I simply
dread having to do it again.

So I just keep putting it on the back burner, not working on the
FINISHING TOUCHES....My Bad!!!!
What would you guys do? Bite the bullet and re-paint or live with it???

Sorry I can't show you more of the space in this post, my husband spread out
his war gaming stuff all over the table (lol)....if you want to see the rest
of the dining room check out this previous post:

  1. Oh Love the bar crate- so clever! and the chalkboard there is a great idea! pinning!
I didn't really notice the color of your walls- they look like a nice neutral in the photos - I've been wanting to change mine but painting is such a chore

  2. Great idea for a mini bar - well done.

I *loathe* painting the wrong color - it is so so easy to do. I have done it so many times - even worse because we hire out our painting - so now Margie (my painter) knows to do one smaller wall and let dry a bit then come get me to make sure.

We're getting ready to do an entire whole interior re--paint and I am having trouble deciding on colors, too - going to be very similar, just need it to be freshened up from cracks, smears and some holes re=filled. Our home is one big giant thing of dry-wall repair dust right now, ugh, hate it - but no pain, no gain, right?

What would I do if the color is too yellow? Re-paint. Do it now so you love your color. Don't want till spring is here, just get it done now when it is winter. You will be so glad you did.

And, well, paint everything you can and just hire a painter to do the hard parts. It's a good compromise. Now sure what kind of paint you use but this month Sherwin-Williams is having a 30% off, and someone told me March 1st starts a 40% off sale. Not sure if it is true, but worth mentioning.

  3. I love how you repurposed that old crate! That was a neat idea. I love old crates too. I hate painting rooms with tall ceilings too! I hate painting rooms in general. But, if I hated the wall color enough, I would probably break out the paint one day when I could devote the proper time to do it. Maybe you could get your husband to help since the ceilings are high. It seems to go faster with 2 people.

  4. The crate looks terrific! As for repainting: I paineted our dining room in the old house once and HATED the color as soon as it went on. But waited a YEAR til I couldn't stand it another minute and repainted:) My hubby buikt a bar in our downstairs. If you'd like to check it out, here is my latest post: http://designsbypinky.blogspot.com/2016/02/another-something-new-at-bar.html Have a great week!!!

  5. Christine, we have a lot in common! I love low key days in pj's and decorating and rearranging in them is the best! As for crates, you might have noticed, I can't help it either! Your idea is really nice, I love that mini bar in the crate! So nice! Your walls look great on the pics, but if you're not happy, I get it, happens to me, it bugs me til I change it!

  6. I think the paint looks fine, but then it always looks different in photos than it does actually on the wall. I don't blame you not wanting to paint it again though!

The crate is really nice and this is a super cool ideas!

  7. I think so many things look better in crates or trays but never thought to do up a "bar" in one. Yours looks fantastic and the surrounding décor (and wall colour) really add to the whole look! Love hearing that you have to crop out your hubby's "mess" - real life rocks!

  10. I'm crazy for crates and love what you've done with this one! Painting ranks right up there with going to the dentist so I'd live with it for as long as possible. This is a great idea and we would love for you to share this at Celebrate Your Story link party. Here's the link: http://www.thesweetsensations.com/welcome-to-celebrate-your-story-link-party/. Hope to see you there!

  15. I love the crate! I like that it works great for someone who doesn't have enough alcohol for a large bar, but has a small stash for the occasion. Thanks for sharing!

    Thanks for sharing at SYC.

  17. I'm really liking the idea of the crate for the booze! I have all my bottles stuffed in a narrow and deep pantry and it's such a pain to pull one bottle out from the very back that's behind the other bottles. You've inspired me to try your creative trick--thanks!

  18. I love this idea! Somehow bottles and everything look more disorganized when they are not in a defined space like the crate. And you can move it from room to room too! Visiting from the Your Inspired Design Link Party!

  19. Love this! The whole space is warm and inviting and I like the way you styled it all! I don't know why but everything looks better in a crate or tray! :) I hope you are having a great week so far!

  22. I love your bar crate! Cute idea! I like how you added the chalkboard with the dine and drink. I envy you getting to lazy around in pj's. Can really tell that the walls have too much yellow. I love painting when it comes to crafts, but I hate painting walls. I would put it off too.

  29. Great idea. I need to remember this for the next party we have at the house. Oh and I say bite the bullet and repaint the walls so that you love it. Otherwise it's just going to continue to bug you!

  30. Hi Christine! That's a cool idea. I've done something similar. I have a small crystal ice bucket to small tumblers and a few bottles of booze on a wooden tray. I had originally done this for Christmas and I had added some acrylic ice chips, christmas ornaments and pine needles, but I loved the idea and kept it after the holidays. ;D Great post!

  31. Very cute! I love bars and bar carts, but I can't put one in my house, because I can't trust my teenage son and his friends to stay away from it! Maybe someday... I have a dining room and a bedroom that I have never really liked the color I chose when I painted either. But I am forcing myself to abstain from repainting until all of the other rooms in our home have been painted at least once since we moved in. I have 2 rooms to go!

  34. Your chalkboard sign is too CUTE and that crate bar...the perfect spot to corral and display your adult beverage bottles! I, too created a makeshift bar with a large tray on top of a dresser in our formal living room. It went up for the holidays and hasn't come down yet - I like it there too much! Thank you for linking up at The Pretty Project Party - hope to see you back in March ;) -Rachael
