Hello Everyone, you might remember my BIG BOY BEDROOM post I shared recently?
Well, Robbie's bedroom has these 3 cute little windows that don't open and are really just
decorative, but sure are nice for extra light. I really didn't want to custom order window
coverings, so here is how I covered them for cheap.
When re-doing Robbie's bedroom last month, I purchased these RITVA curtains from Ikea,
but I only needed one panel for his big window since his bed covers the other end of the window.
The second RITVA panel came in handy for my little project.
I purchased a roll of foam from Jo-Anne's Crafts and cut the foam to fit into
the little window squares. Then I took the second RITVA panel and wrapped the fabric
around the foam squares, just like I would wrap a present.

I don't know how to sew, so I stitched the fabric up
as good as I could....lol
To make it more fun for a kids room, I simply painted some polka-dots on the fabric
using some fabric paint and one of those little foam dippers
Soooo easy (if I can do it)

ReplyDeleteWe're actually considering putting three decorative windows in our master for added light b/c we're going to add a screened porch to the back of our bedroom and will lose much needed light.....and my husband has been hesitant due to covering them.....you have provided a great way to do so. We shall see what we do in the future then!

ReplyDeleteI did something similar with cardboard for a friend that had an arch window above her bed that her neighbors could look into. Such an easy and fast way to cover a window.
